Sr. Electrical Hardware Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute at a significant level to Electrical Engineering at InCube Labs San Antonio:
    • R&D - design and development of implantable and associated wearable and external hardware using mixed signal - analog and digital techniques, sensors and actuators, and closed-loop control systems. Development of wireless charging, and wireless communications
    • Manufacturing including process development, qualification and validation, part/component selection, esp. for implantable electronics
  • Develop Class II/III implantable electronics to be compliant with regulatory and QA standards (FDA and ISO), as well as be power-efficient, reliable for multi-year operation and pass EMI/RFI, be hermetically sealed and packaged and interface with rest of electronics systems for developed products
  • Work in a matrixed and multidisciplinary organizational structure to support InCube Labs facilities in both San Jose and in San Antonio, including the respective incubated companies, projects and technologies following appropriate QA system for each segment
  • Document work output and use project and organizational documentation systems, including electronic systems

 

Education / Job Experience:

  • Designed and implemented electronics mixed-signal hardware, firmware and software for implantable medical devices. Class III experience desirable. At least 10 years' experience, > 15 years desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or in an equivalent field required
  • Participated as a key member of EE and Product Development groups with a hands-on, leadership-by-example approach in a leadership role as team leader, project manager leading, managing and developing other experienced and accomplished team members to plan and meet milestones
  • Demonstrated working experience and accomplishments with electronics hardware and software - analog/digital, sensors/actuators, power management and wireless communications. Developed, selected and qualified sensors for both implantable device function and for measuring physiological parameters
  • Familiarity and experience with other implantable device components such as connecters, leads, cables, interconnects, headers, electronics packaging, communication protocols and standards. Real-time microcontroller programming a plus.
  • Excellent and demonstrated use of EDA tools: sensor/circuit design, simulation, layout. Hands-on re: circuit and system prototyping and development
  • Developed and implemented manufacturability, and related process flows and controls. Selected and qualified vendors for manufacturing Class II/ III implantable device electronics
  • Working knowledge of biomaterials, drugs, drug delivery, and mechanical technologies in support of multidisciplinary teams: engineering, biological, manufacturing, regulatory, intellectual property, clinical and business

Sr. Embedded Software Engineer

Purpose:

The ideal candidate is expected to play a primary role on our R&D team. The candidate will be responsible for design and development of current and future products as well as supporting the manufacturing team with production-related software tools. The ideal candidate will have direct experience working within an FDA-compliant quality system. Thoroughness and attention to detail are key attributes for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop firmware for very low-power, battery powered implantable and other medical devices consisting of a mixture of analog, digital and RF circuitry in highly integrated, low power embedded systems
  • Design and develop externals and wearable for implantable and other medical devices, including for drug delivery
  • Key member of a cross-functional team. Participate in design activities at the conceptualization, architectural and implementation levels
  • Document software design and implementation, including requirement specifications
  • Support verification and validation testing, work closely with the verification and validation team to develop test plans and protocols
  • Ensure compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), and Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) standards.

 

Education / Job Experience:

In House Patent Paralegal Position

Description:

The position will be assisting in-house counsel working on USPTO and foreign filings, office actions, assignments and other related USPTO filings for a variety of medical device and pharmaceutical related patent applications. They will be proofing and editing patent applications and office actions and prepping office actions. They will be developing and tracking dockets (US and foreign), filing on line assignments, working with the deposit accounts and reviewing IP related documents and agreements.

 

Requirements:

  • Four year college degree. Paralegal certificate preferred but not required
  • 5 years of paralegal experience mainly with the U.S. patent prosecution and some foreign prosecution and trademark work
  • Excellent computer and typing skills (including proficiency on Word and Excel), proof and editing skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of USPTO patent procedures and patent claim format
  • Experience with docketing tracking software and patent licenses are a plus
  • Technical background and prior experience with medical device and drug related patents is preferred

Research Scientist

Description:

The ideal candidate is expected to play a pivotal role in our R & D team. The candidate must have a background in biochemical analysis such as spectrophometric, fluorescence immuno assays, HPLC, CE, LC-MS. Experience with microplate assays is must and experience with Luminex MapX technology is an advantage; possess a master's degree in biochemistry or related fields with relevant job experience in pharmaceutical research or a related field.

Responsibilities:
